wheel/ tire size with 4/6 drop
Hey guys,
I should be ordering wheels/tires this week but I'm still not exactly sure about the tires. The wheels will be AR Torq Thrust II's 17x8 all around and the truck will have a 4/6 drop. I'm either looking at getting 275/60-17, 255/60/17 or 275/55/17, 255/55/17 or something similar. Does anyone know what they think would be the best, or your own ideas? Also, pictures of similar setups with the wheel/tire info would be great. Thanks!

Re: wheel/ tire size with 4/6 drop
Got a 4/6 drop on a 70. Running 255/50 17 BFG TA KDWS on 17*8s. There the original size on the 94-96 Impala. Good compromise between ride and handling.Ride almost as good as my old 275/60 15s

I believe stock is 28" and imho its just not enough tire on a truck.

Yeah with the 275/60 and 255/60 it would put it at 30 and 29. I believe it would fill in nicely with the drop.

Re: wheel/ tire size with 4/6 drop
If you check on the bfg website you can get info about rolling diameter. Other tire sites may have the same info. Those 275s should look pretty meaty in the back

Re: wheel/ tire size with 4/6 drop
Yalls trucks look great! The comparisons really help with what I'm getting. Does anyone know how well a 275 fits on an 8" wheel?

Re: wheel/ tire size with 4/6 drop
275/60's are perfect on an 8" rim.

Re: wheel/ tire size with 4/6 drop
Nice wheel choice for a classic look but make sure you get the correct back spacing to make the tires tuck. I had TT2's w/ BFG 255-55-17's on my Silvy last year but had to sell the set because they didn't have enough back spacing to tuck like I wanted them to.
I'm thinking the older trucks have more fender space so you might be good with 5.25"-6" of backspacing. |

It is close...the top picture is 3.5/6", the bottom picture is 3.5/5". As soon as the truck is back out of the garage, I will take better pictures.
