Poor old Feathers Blazer!!

This one has been rode hard and put to bed wet! It looks to be too far gone to restore. Too bad... Nice rare old Blazer...

Re: Poor old Feathers Blazer!!

Wes,
You should buy this and restore to its former glory with all the period correct additions like the hood and windshield mount lights. The feathers look good enough to document and have airbrushed back on. Also while you are at it repro. the hood!

Re: Poor old Feathers Blazer!!

I ran across that ad too. How cool the feathers would look on my shop wall! ...and the Hickey hood has to worth something. The steering wheel is probably Hickey too. ...and maybe it has a dif cover and other neat do dads - lights? I agree with Wes tho, probably too far gone. It's a parts truck. I'd try to buy the hood.

Re: Poor old Feathers Blazer!!

Well, since it is so close to a parts truck/ blazer, I would sell one of you the hood and change it to a two wheel drive to ride in. Since my back is in so bad shape that I won't be going wheelin ever again. It is a cool old piece, wish I had one similar. I have not done a blazer but the more I see them the more I think about wanting to do one. Jim

Someone should really save that thing. What a cool piece of history. I too would like to get a hold of that hood. Don't know what I'd do with it but when is the last time you've seen one!

Talking Re: Poor old Feathers Blazer!!

For $1600 cash, I would buy it if it was on the East coast. I bet for $1400-1500 u would take it home. The parts are worth that.

The SPID won't show anything special since these were usually dealer installed kits. This one must have been owner installed since this Blazer is a 70 and the Mod Bod kits were not available till 72 (maybe 71?) I believe. You can tell this one has had a repaint at some time and that's probably when the graphics, grille and hood were changed out. Still a cool period correct old Blazer... I would love to have seen it in its Day! Oh and the Mod Bod kit cost a Whopping $65.00 back in 72

Re: Poor old Feathers Blazer!!

I am in comunication with the owner' He is going to send me more detailed pictures and I will go from there. It is about an hour or so drive from me, so I let him know I needed some detailed pictures to help me decide if the drive is worth it. We will see. I am nuts for even thinking about another project... WES

Re: Poor old Feathers Blazer!!

I just talked to the owner again. When he purchased it the lady he bought it from's dad purchased it new. She told him that it was this way strait from the dealership. I got him to look closer, becase it is titled a 1970 and explained that it had 71/72 grill and the doors use to have 67-70 mirrors as evidenced with the green paint where they were originaly mounted. Witch that brought up that the Blazer originaly was painted green. It was also green under the cowling. So it is definetly a repaint. I also explained that the feathers blazers weren't made untill 1972. Anyway I believe he was told some stories when he purchased it. The hood is plastic and fiberglass, does that sound right? WES

The funny part is that if it had the 1970 grill it would look just like the Johny Lightning and AMT Model Boondocker Blazer. WES
