help?

hey guys, I have the option to pick up two motors for a smoking deal. one appears to be a newer 5.3 but missing a intake. Heres what I know.

Complete motor with harness/ no computer:
This was on the block 0127409006433680
heads 862
back of block 12567393
front block j051
coil L31J26/2019

2nd motor/ this is missing intake, no wiring, it was hit in front. a/c bracket broke, water pump pulley damaged. and theres a bolt broke off near oil dip stick on side of block, looks like 1/2 bolt (what is this? other block doesn't have it)
He says its a GEN IV 1297
block 12588778
head 7081W6300777
heads 243
sticker on heads 10CHA2070870911
The coil pack is different from the other motor.

can yall help me identify them?

Re: help?

so what is the cost of them? That is what would make my mind up right now, but I am leaning toward the first one because of the impact on the second one, potential issue.

I can get both of them for 750. the one missing the intake is really clean, looks to be low mileage.

does anyone know the specs of these motors with the numbers I supplied? I can not find anything.

Wink Re: help?

I would get both for that kind of money. Truck intakes are pretty cheap less than $100.00 most times. They will interchange on the LS motors as well.
If they don't have the intakes it maybe a good time to think about what kind of induction you want.
Check the link.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

First motor: is a 5.3/4.8 and it is really hard to tell unless you pull the heads off or put a boroscope in the cylinders and see whether it has a flat top(4.8) or dished piston(5.3).

Second Motor: not really sure with those numbers. 243 heads did come on the 4.8, 5.3 (ls1 and ls6 as well but doubtful that's what you have unless its an aluminum block.). Best bet is to look for number stamped on the front drivers side of the block. below the water pump passage. And if you plan on using it for a swap, the GEN IV standalone harness is pricey.

Post some pictures if you can.

Re: help?

i have 862's on my 4.8L. i found on a site the idea of using something to see if you can feel a lip on the piston by poking through the spark plug hole. i just used an antenna i had laying around to see if it was dished or flat... should be pretty obvious if it is a dished piston.

Re: help?

you can actually see the lip if the piston is at the top and you shine a pen light down on it
