Official build post, Metal Melters, LLC; 1965 LCF50, Twin Turbo

Since the post I’ve been using is titled something other than what it is. I wanted to start a new “official build post” for everyone to follow. We found the truck in Indiana. It was one over-confident builder away from the junk yard. But it’s getting a full frame off, but and bolt restoration; with a few upgrades. We ditched the stock drivetrain all-together and went with a GEN V BBC with two 66mm borgs feeding into twin fitech throttle bodies. The roughly 1500HP will be transferred through a custom build NV4500, custom driveshaft, match build Dana 70 and landing on the ground through 445/50r22.5’s. Otherwise known as super singles. The dovetail on the car deck was extended 4 ft and the bed skirted to the ground and wrapped in copper. All sitting on a custom suspension consisting of a hard bar 4 link in the rear on two 12k bags and ifs up front with 6k bags. We have a few other tricks up our sleeve, we hope you’ll follow and comment.

Started getting the 4-link mocked up. Picked up a nice Dana 80 this weekend factory disc brakes are always a bonus for a donor. That should hold up to the 1500 HP

Is there anyway we can get build pics as it progresses. I love this build but I would love to see the process of your progress. I'm not asking you to explain everything as you go but just random pics of stuff being done. If that makes sense.

That aside what did you have done to the motor?

Sorry for all the delays in posting pics and info. The body comes back from round one Friday. Wish I had more pics for you. We’re just finishing up the four-link. We’ll be spraying Linex next week hopefully and should have it on the road by the 4th of July.

Rear is in and most everything is welded-up. I’ll upload the pics of our 4 link later this week.

Rear end is in. We ended up moving the diff back 12”. Deck is cut and back on the frame. Now the heavy melting begins.

Mock-up plenum for the twin throttle body, twin turbo What’s your vote. Join them before the plenum or at the plenum (as designed)?

My vote is for before the plenum. Having the plenum the way you have it now will create a lot of turbulence. Air does not like corners and boxes.

Something like this would be better.

Or this.

or even this.

Appreciate the input. But that’s why its a mock-up unit. It’s just for fitmemt and measurements. Really just looking for feedback on before or at the plenum. Not on design. But again. Thanks
