Aiming Headlights

I recently purchase headlights (Hella H4's) and was wondering how do I go about aiming them so that there is as little glare for oncoming traffic as possible?

I second that question.

Re: Aiming Headlights

Compared to regular sealed beam lamps, these things are super easy to adjust against a garage door or wall. Do a Google search on How To Align Headlights, or How to Adjust Headlights, or How to Aim Headlights. There are numerous posts showing the distances from the wall, etc.

The big difference on these lamps is the top of the beam is cut off completely flat, so you're adjusting against an edge instead of "hotspot" as on the old bulbs.

Since my garage and driveway and both sloped at an angle, I actually bought a headlight alignment kit off Ebay that compensates for the floor being crooked. They are frequently available at low cost. My setup can be seen on post #91, page 4 of my build thread.

Some good info here. More focused on ECE headlights, but info on US DOT as well.

Re: Aiming Headlights

I always parked about 15 feet from the garage door and had the main part of the light hit below where the headlight is. That way they are pointing down for oncoming traffic.
