Picked up another 72 today!

Hey guys just thought I'd share! I picked up another truck today. Got some cool options I've never seen before? First 3/4 ton I've had anyway and so far this things a torque monster! 292 4/speed 4:11 power loc rear, power steering, power brakes, runs like a top! Now just need to figure out what I'm going to do with it? Lol

Re: Picked up another 72 today!

Those factory tow hooks alone are probably worth what you paid for the entire truck. Nice find, congrats!

Tow hooks on a 2wd are really unusual, and rare!

What that means is that truck was built for the Canadian market and originally sold new in Canada. Somewhere along the line someone in the US imported the truck into the US. That surprises me that a Canadian truck ends up in the US.

If you are real interested in the history of the truck and because the truck was built in Canada you can get a printout from the GM Heritage centre which will tell when it was built and which dealership sold it new.

Your power steering looks factory to me but do not se it on the Spid. I'm wondering if it was a dealer installed kit or was standard equipment on a 3/4 ton.

Re: Picked up another 72 today!

I find all these trucks fascinating.

So it would have come with metric gauges at the very least?

What's the GM heritage center?

By the looks of the spid this truck was ordered for work! Everything is basic or heavy duty! I guess original owner wanted to push, pull, or haul some heavy $hit!

Ya I thought the power steering not on the spid was interesting but I'm not to familiar with the 3/4 tons? I figured power brakes, disc brakes, power steering or even the 4:11 gears should have been on there? Maybe I will look into the heritage center!
Thanks!

Re: Picked up another 72 today!

4:10's were standard with a 292 and 4 speed. 4:57's were optional

Great find! That truck looks like my dad's first truck, a 68 that I learned to drive when I was 12 years old. We used that truck on the farm for 10 hard years, until the Michigan winters finally did her in. I've been passively looking for another one to restore for dad.

Well it looks like the winters have taken a toll on this beast too! I guess dumping the clutch was alittle to much for the old trailing arms! 😭

Re: Picked up another 72 today!

The hooks are extreme bend tow hooks, they are the rarest of them all fetch a pretty penny
