Re: 66 suburban build
Alright we spent two long days on the burb. Changed out a rusted panel on drivers side and finish the skinning on the pass door. That 1/8'' gap around the door didn't happen by accident neither. There was alot of welding, grinding pushing, pulling and cussing but I'm very happy with the end result.

It definitely gets a bushing of some sort; it's in the body bushing kits.

Re: 66 suburban build
Nobby could you take a picture of where the pinch weld ends at the front of the rear wheelwell? Im rebuilding a 66 panel that was missing the bottom 3 inches of the body. I got a wheel well repair panel for a pickup but I have to fabricate the rest. Also if you could include a picture of how the 1/4 panel ends by the rear doors. Thanks. Iwsh I was making progress as fast as you. Your burb is looking good. Gord

Re: 66 suburban build
Thanks for all the encouragement guys! It slowed down a little bit lately but it's about to pick up again. I'll take pics as requested soon. Bodys coming off this weekend so I can start on frame and start smoothing firewall and repair windshield overhang. Heres a couple pics, repaired upper drivers jam, floor work and skinning drivers door.
Later, Nobby |

Re: 66 suburban build
Sweet Burb. I would love to have one some day. I've kinda slowed down on 67-72's and would like to get into 60-66 trucks, etc, plus I can't haul the whole family around at the car shows unless they are in the bed.

Nobby,
I have something for ya.. PM me so we can figure out how to get this piece out to you.. The three screw holes look pretty rusty, but I'm quite certain you can run a tap through them and they'll be just fine.. -John |

Re: 66 suburban build
Nobby--looking good.. Please take a bunch of photos of the roof eyebrow repair.. That's gonna (presumably anyway) be the toughest repair in my mind on my Burb.. I won't be to that point for a bit.. But like mentioned by others that's a common problem area on these trucks.. I will definitely be referring to your build when bodywork on mine begins..

Wiring and also started on the roof repair. We figured what would work best for us and cut the new panel in half, fit the ends and fill in the middle.
