Wow!
What a great idea!!
I can't think of a better excuse to start another project!
I have a 4 year old son, and showed this thread to my wife.
She loved the idea!! The question is......
What to build.
Keep the progress posted.
How old do you think Kevin will be when his truck is done?

Darren

Got the axles back today and this weekend will order the suspention kit.

I would like to thank right gear and axle, for the work that they did for me. The axles are nice..

Front Axle is a Dana 60 3.73 gears.

Rear Axle is a 14 bolt 3.73 gears. all stock nothing fancy.

Heres the web site for right gear. They have good prices on axle parts if anyone is interested.

I would also like to thank Shawn, and all the guys at Crosslink Powder Coating. Thanks for the great job you did guys.

Heres a link to cross link powder coating. They do great work, if anyone in the central California area is interested.

Thanks again to all the guys at Cross Link and Right Gear & Axle. Landon, Kevin, and Jenna.

That is looking real sharp. Also, I like the idea of a "progress post". Keeps progress on the truck easy to to watch, for the rest of us.

They primered the frame before powdercoating it? I always thought that the frame had to be bare steel.

Gee Emm, Yes they put a primer coat on the frame before the shot it with the paint. I also did not realize that they put a primer coat. But they primered all the parts that I took them.

I talked to a few differant powder coaters and they told me it was up to me if I wanted them primered first. But Cross Link just went out and did it. That is probally why I payed so much to get the stuff powdered. But you get what you pay for !!

BLAZERMAN, I will hopefully get the axles under it this weekend. I will post more pic's. This post will be the only place that I will put the progress pic's for Kevin's truck. That way everyone can keep track of what I am doing.

Did they put a clear coat on top of the Vien? What is the product # of the Silver Vien? The reason I ask is that some Viens (depending on the product) turn black after a few months if they don't have a clear coat on top of the Vien. I have had some trouble in the past with a certin product of Silver Vien doing this to a customer.

Kruzer69,

Yes they put a clear coat or two on the silver vein. They put clear on all the parts I had done. As far as the product # for the silver vein, I don't know. I will be picking up my headers sometime this week, I will find out for you then.

Since they used a clear on top of the Vien you should not have any problems at all. Good job looks great.

Well evryone I was hoping to get the suspention under the frame this weekend. Went to 4 wheel parts wholesalers to get the lift on Wensday, and they were missing one front spring. The to make matters even better the springs that I did get need to be repainted. They were all scratched up and stuff, I was kind of pissed off about that but thats how things work I guess.

So next week or so I will be taking the springs apart and getting them ready to get powdered. :p I will then get everything back on track I hope. But you guys know how it is, we always have set backs. I will let every one know how things are going in a week or so. Landon & Kevin

Landon, your frame off is making me envious. I'm trying to 'keep up with the Jone's' and stay with you. You're an inspiration. Can't wait to see the axles under the frame. Is the Silver Vein a smooth finish or semi-textured? From the close up pic, it looks like a definite texture profile. Also, is the clear coat a paint or powdercoat? Is it a typical basecoat/clearcoat coating so it will have UV resistance?
Thanks, Greg.

I am having my springs powder coated right now. It was an experience getting them apart. The front ones were the hardest.

I had the same experience with 4 wheel parts wholesalers. I bought 4 superlift springs and they gave me the wrong ones for the back. The front springs were all gouged up so I rattled canned them black again. YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE ONE SWEET 4X4 when you are done. Maybe my next truck I will powder coat . . .
