Vintage Air 54 chevy

Iv installed a Vintage Air gen 2 compac unit under the dash with the 2 brackets included in the kit. One backet from the dash to the unit the other from the hood hinge bolt to the unit.

Is this correct ? The unit seems to bounce around quite a bit going down the road.

Can anyone tell me how they installed their unit? Or better yet pictures.

Re: Vintage Air 54 chevy

i used a va gen II compac on my 58
should be 3 brackets to mount it
front screw, top left (upside down Y) and rear right.
it should be very secure with no movement.

i made my own brackets, except for the upside down Y

what i did i don't think you can do it now if your truck is painted.. i welded 1/2" x 1" tube to the fire wall and bolted the a/c to that with a brace to the bottom of the dash for extra support..
For you put another brace to something to stop the a/c from moving around.

You should have three brackets. There should be a flat strap that have the ends twisted 90 degrees that attaches to the firewall near the center, one to the hood hinge bolt as you said and the one to the inner dash edge.

Re: Vintage Air 54 chevy

even with 3 brackets you need to lock it in so the unit wont move
brace it to the dash or the firewall, tough to do when the truck is painted
lots of holes in the bottom of the dash, see which one you can brace off of

Agree, I added another brace just under the glovebox to stiffen up the mount.
