New with current '37 Chevy Corvette truck project...(pic heavy)

My name is Christian, and this is my ride... Highly modified would work in the case of my truck. It’s a 1937 Chevrolet 1/2 ton truck, with a 2001 Corvette engine, or LS1, a T56 6 speed trans, and 3.46 rear end. The frame was custom made by myself with help from my father over the last two years to suit the full Corvette independent suspension and disk brakes all the way around. The truck is supported by a set of fully adjustable coil overs. The wheels are stock 2001 wheels 18x9.5+56 rear, 17x8.5+56 with 255s on rear so they don’t rub on the already 2inch wider rear fenders. The front end is narrowed 6 inches. The Corvette trans is under the bed connected to the motor by a torque tube. The torque tube was custom extended 6.5 inches. The trans being in the back was the reason I made the bed tilt, so people could see the amount of time and effort that went into the truck.
How does it run? Well, the Corvette’s electronics are all there, slimmed down by myself on cold winter nights. The Security systems are all there, I just wired it in such a way that everything that wants to talk, does.

Re: New with current '37 Chevy Corvette truck project...(pic heavy)

Well a video wouldn't be very interesting, it has stock Corvette exhaust on it so she's really quiet, but I like that I can be a sneaker... I bought most of a wrecked Corvette, so I used everything I could. And with a bunch of holes in the firewall, and part of a floor missing, the LS really makes a sweet sound that's pretty loud anyway, but only inside apparently...

I bet it's music. You've got the best thing going dude. Those trucks are the coolest with the least amount of useable drivetrain and suspension. You did the big salami with the Vette stuff. Props!! Now don't be shy, get that iPhone goin!

Yes this! I looked at the stock suspension and motor and initially (like 6 years ago) wanted to build a "blue flame" 235 six like what came in a '53-5 Vette, then (2.5 years ago-ish) was looking randomly on ebay and came across these "Corvette rollers" and went, "Hmmmmmmmmmmm, for the price of a 383 with dual quads, tracking down a trans, rear and some form of suspension that would stick decently (or just one with better brakes!), I can get all that from a Corvette and put it in my truck!" Easier said than done I assure you... but it works! I need better bolsters in the seat 'cause it sticks pretty well in corners...

Imma start a build thread once I find pics from earlier in the build and maybe I'll tear the truck down then too...
It will be going under the knife again soon, once I get ahead with my homework (professors never stop dishing the work!)... Thinking of painting it some form of metallic black with pearl maybe, and a sort of deep brown interior... Gunning for finish by next Goodguys show.

Thanks! Yeah its just a few wires... That was before I had really started to tear into the wiring part...At that point I just flopped the bundle there and avoided it! Many of those are still there however...

Welcome to the board sir!

It says you widened the rear fenders....did you have to widen the running boards or how did you manage to make them match up?

Really kewl ride man, I love the drive train setup....

Thank you!
The running boards are original to the truck, since the fenders are 2 inches wider, I added 2.5 to the rear running board mount arms, added slotted holes further out for adjustability, and added 1 and 7/8ths inches to the rocker panel things (Is there a proper name for those things???).

Driver’s side

Passenger side

I have massaged the ends of the running boards with a grinder as well so the board and fender fit together, since the bed opens there they can’t touch (the fender has brackets inside it so it doesn't flop around)... I will clean the fitment up over the winter...

Thanks professor!!!

Finals week is this week, and my last final is Weds, so hopefully I'll start a real build thread and get some work done between then and New Years! I have a small side project with my bimmer to do first though...

Cold out there though... That won't help any progress...

Wow beautiful truck, I'm going to show this to my father as he has a 40 Chevy pickup that he restored and made into a hot rod. It has a mustang II front end and a s10 rear with discs but running a old school 327. He is going to love yours. Love everything you did to stick all those corvette parts in there including the rear irs. Great craftsmanship

Thanks!

I have gone missing (sorta) because the forum stopped sending notifications to my email? It seems better now I guess...

Anyway, I didn't do anything to the truck at all 'till now. Maybe I'll get some gauges ordered next week.

I was playing on the webz and saw these pictures here... The kolor scheme caught my eye...

Anybody have any opinions on the kolor????????

I can't say I've ever seen a brown street rod with a cream frame. Wheels stay polished. Dark chocolate brown leather seats with some sort of cream stitching and accents.

Either that or go black exterior, red frame with brown leather seat. More or less what it looks like now, just glossy black...
