water coming into cabine by the heaterbox

he guys, help me out.

the carpet on the passenger side keeps getting wet.

took the passenger seat out yesterday to check under the carpet for holes, but everything looked very good. I was actually supprised to see absolutely no rust in our 27 year old Suburban. Very happy with that.

some further investigation found that it seems that the water is coming in from behind the heater box.

is seems that the insulsation that is between the cab and the heaterbox is wet at the red arrows all accross the heater box.

how can water come into the cab from that point?

and what is the easiest way to investigate this?

could it come from outside? from the vent opening between the front windshield and the hood? (dont know that you call that outside vent/water opening)

any clues? tips?

Heater core. Seeing your burban has ac, that just makes it worse to replace. But fret not it it's a couple hour job on a bad day.
