Gas gauge question
So when I pulled my wiring I forgot to see how the gas gauge was wired. It worked when it was in before I pulled it.
My first question is how exactly is it wired to power and the sender unit? And is thier a way to find out if I may have blown the gauge? I'm running 12volts and it worked before I pulled it just don't know if I could have wired it wrong and blew the gauge? Thanks! |

12v goes to one side of the gauge. other side goes to the sending unit, with is a variable ground. Did you change the tank and sending unit?

Well it doesn't "power" the sending unit. The resistor in the sending unit changes the resistance between the gauge and the ground Usually there is a wire running from the gauge to the sending unit and the sending unit is grounded to the tank or has a ground wire running to a good ground.

Looking at the face of the guage, power comes from the key to the left terminal. Then from the right terminal to the sending unit. You must use a resistor to drop from 12 v to
6 v. it goes on the power in side. Good luck |

I can't remember if you have a TF or AD, but if it's a TF you don't reduce the voltage to the gauges. The gas gauge should have switched 12V applied.

Thanks for all the great info. I researched on how the gauge works just wasn't sure which side each one goes on. Looks like il have to double check my work and grounds. An by the way it is a advance design
