Interesting truck my buddy picked up

I'll try and post some pics tomarrow. My buddy picked up a 77 k10 stepside with a straight-six turbo diesel. I never saw anything like this and according to him, it's a nissan factory turbo that was offered on a few of the chevy trucks? Have any of you seen these before? Runs pretty darn good, lots of torque and gets about 22 mpg with the 4-speed granny.

I know you didn't state this in your comments, But Not original in a '77.
If I'm wrong... I'll eat my words

Maybe it was an export model or was an overseas thing like in Australia?
Just not in the States!

I just spoke to him again. I guess it was a dealer installed option, not factory. Just a bellhousing adapter to make it bolt up. I will definetly be posting pics.

I saw straight 6 '99 Cummings installed into '70 Monte Carlo! There is a video on Youtube:

So it is possible to drop a big diesel into our truck chassis.

Of course it's possible, someone here once posted pics of a red dually truck they saw at a car show, it had a Detroit Diesel engine and an Allison tranny with a splitter in the rear axle, looked amazing!
