carb and ignition question
I have a 64 c10 with a 292 and rochester b carb and hei that i can't identify as to manufacturer. had the carb rebuilt and valves adjusted by a reputable shop close by. ran great for a few days and even better with fresh plugs until today.when i accelerate there is a hesitation before it reacts. i have the plugs gapped at .037 because i have read you can increase gap slightly for hei.
my next question is about running dedicated 12 volt wire to hei. where does the wire run from? i can take truck back to shop as it is under warranty but wondered if i should regap plugs back to .035? |

Re: carb and ignition question
good advice TJ. definite change when i sprayed around base of carb. easy fix.
also tried increasing spark plug gap but it would barely run at all. i don't have a voltmeter but wonder if i can run wire straight from positive side of battery to dizzy to insure I am getting 12 volts. |

Re: carb and ignition question
You can run a new wire from the ignition . The old one probably is a resister wire. Did you see if your Vac advance is working? I had a carb done and the accelerator pump was defective and it had to come apart again. The guy said he installed a heavy duty one. Why are they all not the heavy duty ones? Makes no sense.

Re: carb and ignition question
thanks for the picture 63. I'll get er done along with other wiring I need done and then let the guy who rebuilt carb check that out. He said old accelerator pump was shot out real bad.

Re: carb and ignition question
No problem. I just did the same conversion as I went from points to HEI. Was a simple conversion, but the diagrams help a bunch.
