Mirror Question

Hello,

I am obviously new to the forum and just bought a 68 C20. My son and I have been working on it for the last week and are about to get it on the road (front brakes and heater core down, rear brakes and fluid changes to go).

It has a mirror on the drivers side that you could probably tow a small house with. I am going to change it out for stock. I prefer the look of the 71-72 stock mirrors. Will they bolt to the original 3 holes in the door, or will I end up having to drill at least an extra one or two to mount them?

I have tried to post pics, but photobucket isn't cooperating. Thought I did well - $650 for a one small (6") dent and a little rust in driver's door, 400SB and TH400.

Thanks for the help.

Re: Mirror Question

Without a picture it's hard to say about the holes - but welcome to the board!

Re: Mirror Question

Factory 3 holes for the old style arm mirrors are what I am referring to. They are there, straight, and currently plugged with screws.

Thanks

Re: Mirror Question

Yeah mine has large phillips screws in the three triangular spaced holes in the doors and I'm almost positive you can take them out and install the stock mirrors. I will just take them out, weld shut, grind, bondo, and paint the truck as I will use peep mirrors. Hope this helps

Re: Mirror Question

The 67-69 mirrors used a different screw pattern than the 70-72 deluxe mirrors did so you will need to drill new holes to mount 70-72 deluxe mirrors on your 68. I hope you all have a Healthy, Happy & Prosperous 2011!!!
