I was going to have the Dash Pad re-upholstered in my 72 GMC.
I looked at it and the Foam (under the original Vynil) is desintigrated.
Aren't there those Dash Pad "Shells" you can buy that "Slip Over" your old shell and then you cover it?

Anyone with experience/Knowlege/Links/pics/info would be appreciated.

Check LMC trucks, the covers are 49.95 or get a complete replacement for 79.95. I think for the extra 30 bucks I'd just buy a new one. Lots of colors too.

You can buy a new dash pad for $59 to $99, I cant remember where I saw the $59 model but you can get one in any color from Classic Parts or LMC around $99, I just got one from Classic Parts a few months ago and it fit and looks perfect.

In my opinion the plastic covers they sell to glue over the dash pad are PURE JUNK. The plastic will warp with the heating and coooling that goes on inside the cab and I have never seen anyone that was able to glue the entire thing securely to prevent the plastic from warping in different sections of it, where as the reproduction dash pads that are available through us and others are a excellant fit and finish in my opinion.

i've used the repo dashpads on three differnt trucks . they all fit well and had no issues for the years i had those trucks

I recovered my dash pad in fabric a little while back. My pad was cracked too and I ended up filling the cracks with spray foam and sanding it flush after it dried. Worked out great and was easy to cover. Not too sure, but this might be an option for you and only cost a few bucks.

You know, this is a good point.
Although the Truck will bew Garaged when not in use, I live in Palm Desert, with HOT High Temps.
