Does anyone have any info on the production numbers for 72? I have a stock 72 Cheyenne Super C/K20 Custom Camper that has a stock 402 in it. I did not know that 4x4's came with BB's. The glove box ID sticker says L-47 400 ci V8 Engine. I was thinking that it could have been sold in Canada, but the VIN has a Z in it. It was built in Fremont, CA(Thanks BlackDiamond and 502tripower). Any info on this would be appreciated, Shane.

No big blocks in a 4x4, can you post a pic of the option sticker? Does your VIN start with"CCE" or "CKE"?? The "K" is for a 4x4.

I will get a better picture of the option sticker soon. The VIN starts with a CCE so it is a Conventional but it is still a 4x4. The truck has not been altered to my knowledge.

CCE is V-8 4X2. GM didn't offer big blocks in 4X4's until the early 80's.

Sounds like someone might have swapped a nice 2wd truck to a 4x4 chassis. It happends a lot, so nothing to worry about. Get a pic, I would love to see the truck!!!!

Here are some pictures, did they do anything in Canada like this? Could a CCE still be a 4x4 in Canada? When I took it to my mechanic he said there were a few trucks that made it across the border that did not have the emission control and the BB installed in them. He said that it was stock, so I am hoping that it is. How do I check and see if the frame matches the body?

as stated above, it was a 2wd at some point in it's life. are the front leaf spring hangers bolted to the frame or riveted? if they're bolted then someone converted a 2wd frame to 4wd. if riveted then they put the body on a 4wd frame. still a nice truck either way.

It says front stabilizer, that was only on 2wd's. I think someone did a body and motor change. I wonder what the Floor board option was?

it also says R-Susp leaf springs and it looks like coils in the pic's. Not an expert by any stretch of the imagination. Just an observation.

WOW, Great looking truck!!! Love the colors!!!! Very nice looking. Sure looks to be a converted 4x4 though. You could check the numbers stamped on the top of the frame by the power steering box and see if the match.

another give away is that 4wd's stated front locking hubs on the option sheet, where yours lack that option. beautiful truck though! hey, my next door neighbor is from bridger!! we're both in butte going to college at Tech. If you ever decide to sell, please let me know!! thanks

Butte, Montana, I was up there in 85 and again in 86, a good friend of mine played basketball for the Ore Diggers, Met Kelvin Sampson, he was head coach then. Got drink the whole time I was there, good party town. Went to some big party out at a rock quarry with a bunch of different bands, oh to be young again!!!

A couple things mentioned in the thread here...
not ALL 4X4's listed the locking hubs... some were not equipped with them. I've only seen one like that, but I'm sure there were more.
The wooden floor, as stated, was the wooden floor in the bed.
Someone said it looked like a coil rear... I think you were seeing the driveshaft and thinking it was the trailing arms.
It's a great looking truck, but not original.

i like it, and the way that 4X4's around here seemed to have been treated when they were new, it is in far better shape than it would have been if it was all factory
