dual exhaust questions
I have a stock 72 long fleetwith a 3spd and coil spring rear. It came factory with a single exuaste. I am debating putting duals on it but only have a set of brackets on the driver side for the single.
My questions are: what are people paying for dual exuaste systems? what do you do for brakets on the passenge side? anybody run into problems using the 2 quart Fram pf 373 style filter and thier exuaste clearance? |

I ran into the same thing. No bracket on the passenger side. I used a generic exhaust hanger from NAPA. Every other part I needed for the system came in the box. My application is a 4x4 - center dump verses angle dump manifolds. You didn't say what your 72 is. The LMC 4wd kit fit around my 3-speed manual which later was swapped out for a th-350. The kit fit both. Oh and it is around $200 if I remember correctly. I don't work for LMC or Heartthrob Exhaust

Re: dual exauste questions
I just ordered a manifold back dual set up with stock exits from Summit made by Hooker Headers for my Burb. It was $203 shipped. I'll still need to get two turbo-type mufflers which will be another $50. I'll let folks know how it fits once I receive it Wednesday. I looked at the similar offering from LMC that came with mufflers for $210 Plus shipping, but I didn't find an application for a 2wd Burb, only 4wd. I'm sure with shipping it will be at least the same.

Re: dual exauste questions
240 dollars from manifolds to the bumper including the tips. No mail order system would work for my truck since it is lowered pretty far. The muffler shop guys build the hangers for the second side.

Brockman Mellow Tone steel packs- 22 inchers
http://www.brockmancustomparts.com/page2.html The audio is poor on that clip. They actually sound outstanding, a real raspy sound. I get compliments on them every time I drive it. I can't say that about any other muffler I have ever run.

Re: dual exhaust questions
I have $325 in mine including headers(Hooker comps). The system was built to my specs, I did it on a Sun afternoon, when I worked in the muff shop. the headers were a buck 40, the slightly used 50's Flows were a freebe, & the old man runnin the shop was pretty easy on pipes/hangers, & the use of his shop.....the stainless tips that are poked through my rear bumper cost almost as much as 20 plus ft of pipe ,hangers ,&clamps under that old Longhorn. I went Percy alum on the collector gaskets, & opted for a set of weld rings to mate to the headers(40 bones for both pcs). figuring 85 a pop on the 3 chamb flows ,all in all, it would have been a 600 dollar shop job (headers,muffs,pipes/hangers & tips). 2 1/2" from the headers to the back ,with H pipe, & its all tucked nice ....sounds sweet crazyAL

Re: dual exhaust questions
I just did a swap on my 72 from single rams horn exhaust to Mr. Gasket headers with glass packs similar to highperf4x4. I have to say that I like the sound of the new exhaust much better.
But I like the price...I traded a 400 crank that I traded for something else and an old Q-jet carb for my set up. Before swap..... After swap.......
