M/T et street tire size question

I don`t know if this is the correct forum for this so feel free to move it if you need to.

anyone out there running the et streets, whats the widest tire I can fit without major cutting? I don`t mind trimming the lip but I really don`t want to cut my bed but I will if need be. I`m thinking about the 28X13.5 et streets. anyone running these? What wheels ect.? Thanks.

Ummm there is no lip you can trim. So break out the tape and see what you can fit. It depends how low you are and what backspacing you are using a 295 50 15 should fit but someone said it was rubbing I forget who but the truck was really low past a 6" rear drop.

Totally depends on your backspace. I run 325/50/15's which is a 12 tread contact and about 12.8 at the widest point but my wheels come past the fender about 1/2 inch with these tires...

PS go with the M/T drag radials if you ever race on the street. The ET Streets such for actual racing on the street in a truck. They are only designed to be legal to get you to the track but are not formulated for the greasy streets like the radial is. Not to mention, recent street tire classes have seen better 60's with the radial anyway...

You know, I did`nt even look at the wheelwells yet. I`m use to rolling the lip on cars for clearance and did`nt even think if the trucks had them or not. Now that you mention it, I don`t remember any lip in there. I guess I`ll have to do some measuring. I don`t mind mini tubbing it if I have to, I was just hopeing to skip that.

Thanks for the replies guys. Looks like I have to start measuring.

depends on what tranny you are running. If you have a TH-350 or 400 I would run a taller tire so you aren't buzzin so much on the highway...
