I want to replace the rear axle on my 69 k10 because the housing on the old one somehow rotted out. I have a 12 bolt from a 77 k10 and I was wondering if it would bolt right in or if I would have to do some mods. The original axle was also a 12 bolt. Thanks,Marty

It will bolt right in. I have a late 70s axles under my truck. Both were direct fits.

Thanks a lot I wasn't sure if the spring perches on the new axle were further apart or not but good to know it's easier than I thought.

I believe you'll find the 77 spring perches are wider than your 69 if there both 12 bolts. The 14 FF axels are the same.

I did this same change to mine, the shock mounts are also in different locations.

Is it easy to move the pearches and shock mounts or should I just look for another axle?

If you can grind & weld or know someone that can it's not too bad. I used a 4" grinder with a cut off wheel & removed as much of the welds as possible. Then used a sawzall, hammer and chisel for the rest. Measure twice weld once. You also need to check the angel of the pads in relation to the pinion shaft. Basically just copy the positions of the old axel.
