How much do you drive your truck? Is it going to see rain, puddles, gravel roads. Unless it's a sunday driver or a trailer queen, I say fenderwells are a must.

Yes, if you're driving through gravel, it will dent the under-hood area.

The thread's title says pros and cons, there are no pros.
If you drive the truck to the store and back and open the hood you will have a nasty engine compartment

Re: Pro's an Cons to not havin fender wells???

That would be a big nono, are you gonna be lowering the truck alot. that would be the only reason to do that and if you do you can say bye bye daily driver. everything will rust and the electronics will get fried and possibly melt equalling fire hazard.

Talking Re: Pro's an Cons to not havin fender wells???

Sounds like a big no to me!
Just like some other mods some do. They aren't meant for driving the truck just for shower's who trailer them everywhere.

If you drive it u need fender wells!

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Pro's an Cons to not havin fender wells???

Why would you not want to have inner fenders? They help keep the engine bay clean, fenders and hood protected from rocks, and stabilize the entire front end. And they look nice. IMO, ditching the fenderwells is uber redneck. And I too am here in Texas. They also keep prying eyes from peering at whatever bling you may have on the motor that other people need to know nothing about.

Re: Pro's an Cons to not havin fender wells???

When I was very young, I did this. Then one day at 70+ MPH I found out that those thingys also help keep excess air out from the engine compartment. Let me tell you, that hood wrapped over the windshield,(and broke it) bent the crap out of the fenders, and generally destroyed the whole dog house. Fun stuff!!

Trust me, there are better ways to reduce weight.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that water would get on the plug wire boots every time it rained, thus the engine would miss out until dry.

Re: Pro's an Cons to not havin fender wells???

I do not have fender wells, my truck is bagged, It is not a daily driver, I do drive it on a gravel road however not far. If I could I do plan someday to put a modified trailer fender for fender wells in my truck, however with how my truck is used it is not that big of a deal without. Just a little bit dirtier under the hood after a long drive. And when my truck is parked you cant peer thru the wheel well because my truck is tucking the wheel.

Re: Pro's an Cons to not havin fender wells???

Man just driving mine around with the fan throwing stuff up to hood is eye opening. I have black underside of hood and let me tell ya more stuff gets flinged up there then you'd imagine. I don't even want to think what the hell it would do if I took out my inner fenderwells!!!!

With a 2" only drop I see no reason to even worry about the fender wells..
And if cleaned up , painted IMO they look pretty cool.

Yeah you should be perfectly fine with stock fenders, my son`s 67 has a 2 inch drop in the front and everything clears no problem, still has enough room to turn no worries.

Trucks all over the pace are running 4-5" front drops and still can keep stock inner fenders

Mine is down 4" at least and its no where near hitting the inner fenders. You would only have to remove them if your truck is bagged.
