need advice on instaling performer intake
I'm mentaly geting ready to instal my intake in a week or 2. On the intruction sheet, they say not to youse the end seal. Has anybody ever use the end seals and did they work? I dont care about using the rtv cilicone but I bought some anyway. I will ask more ? as I get closer to instalation.

I just did a cam swap and dropped my performer intake on using the end seals with no problems. Just a dab of silicone where the gaskets and the seals meet. Good Luck.

Throw the seals in the trash and use the rtv aply about a 1/4 thick on the ends let it set afew minutes and then place the intake on,tighten bolts from center out in a cross pat.Hope this helps.

YEAH, i did the same pitchin'the end seals. the is a gasket former that is real simple to use,i used it on my performance pkg. from edelbrock, it's called "rite stuff"it comes outta a can like cheez wiz . make sure you go up into the corners good(dont glob) at the intake gasket .overlapping the intake gasket w/the "can of cheez wiz".they dont make it any more easier than that!

Toss the end gaskets in the trash. they will slip out of place and you will not know it until you start to leak oil. A good high temp silicon is what you want to use.
And I always put a thin coat around the water jackets. But this is just me. |

we need a post that is dedicated to "the right stuff"
that is the best gasket maker ever invented it may cost about $15 per can but a can will do a complete engine you can put it on anything slap it together and drive it with no leaks and no dry or setup time thats my testimonial to "the right stuff"

Throw the gaskets in the trash like rest of them said. But on the two center bolts either side of carb use the same rtv on those bolts. It will keep oil from eventually easing up through those bolts and making that new intake look ugly. Also you might want to up rtv around the water jacket openings. Good Luck!
