Big Block bracket I.D. ?

The orange bracket next to the compressor? Air pump possibly? The truck is a 69 that is quite original yet.
More pics will be in a junk yardin thread...

Would that normally be listed on the spid?

Re: Big Block bracket I.D. ?

My 72 BB burb has the factory smog pump but it is not listed on the SPID. On another thread they said that all BB burbs got the smog pump automatically but I am not sure about the trucks.

Re: Big Block bracket I.D. ?

My 71 bb truck did not have the smog setup on it from factory, but a friend had a 69 that had the AIR equipment still in place when he got it. I have seen both ways and believe it depended on plant of manufacture possibly.

Re: Big Block bracket I.D. ?

1/2 ton trucks (some) had a smog pump... 3/4 tons did not.

Re: Big Block bracket I.D. ?

some 3/4 tons did, my burb was a 3/4 ton originally.
However, my friend's 72 3/4 ton big block cheyenne super didn't have one.

Weird. My 3/4 is an original Calif truck, still has emissions labels and all, Calif Registration on the SPID....but no smog pump, and no EEC.

Re: Big Block bracket I.D. ?

I have seen documentation that ALL '72 1/2 ton (and all '72 BB Suburban) 402's had smog. Also the 1/2 ton Big Block was not available for sale in California in '72. I do not have info. on other years, only the '72. Also, my SPID does not mention the AIR system, but the build sheet has a line labeled K19 AIR INJ REACT.

Re: Big Block bracket I.D. ?

The truck is a 69. It is also a 1/2 ton. There is a picture of the spid on my "junkyardin" thread.
