Question What's NOS ???

OKay, I may be opening myself up to some shots here, but here goes.... (please be kind ).

What does NOS stand for when referring to parts - such as the headlight bezels that just sold on e-bay (mentioned in a recent post)?

I've heard of Nitrous Oxide Systems, but I doubt this is what NOS refers to in this context.

Please help - - or should I say - - "let the razzing begin"...

New Old Stock - They are "extra" replacement parts produced by the manufacturer (Chevy) that is just as old as the truck but are "new" in the sense that they haven't been installed. Just locked up in a wherhouse for years. They are stock GM replacment parts.

there's gotta be a term for that. almost post whorish, but yet not quite.

NOS doesnt necessarily mean they've been locked in a warehouse, as if they were intended to become NOS parts. they are just parts that did not sell when they were originally produced.

Also known as "Neat Old Stuff"! Yes it is supposed to mean OEM replacement parts that were made in the same era of the vehicle that it fits. You will find that defenition get fudged on Ebay though...

Thanks for the explanation, and for making it so painless for me.

As for being the first to reply, I know how you feel. In my case, when I finally see a question I know the answer to, I've usually been beaten to the punch by everybody and their dog. All I can say is "Ditto" or "I knew that"

Thanks again for the info.

Jeremy is not a post whore. He's just a plain whore. :p

Zilver,

you have to be quick on the draw around here if you want to be first. What really ticks you off is these speed demon typers. While you are in the process of answering something, some speedy fingered post whore jumps in and types at the land speed record. You click submit, only to find three people have answered it before you. LOL

Could be a sign you put some thought and effort into your posts, Mike.
