Re: 5/5 drop rubbing issues

rubbing with 255x17x50 on front with 5.5 bs'ing

think you need at least 5-4.5 bs'ing to solve that.

Lot of the guys here grind down their lca's to precvent rubbing when turning sharp

Re: 5/5 drop rubbing issues

I have 15x6.5 with 4.25 BS on 215/70/15 tires 5in drop.
At first I grinded on hard turns but I took a grinder to the lower control arms and solved that problem. I do have rubbing issues on the under side of the inner wheel well. I will most likely lift the front 1in.

Re: 5/5 drop rubbing issues

275/60 is a pretty big tire. Mine is right about 6" drop in the front, and a 215/70 has no problems on a 6.5" rally. I was looking at trying to fit my 15x8.5 slots on the front, but am having trouble finding anyone that has any 15" tires to try to fit it. I guess I will clean up a pair of 7's to go on the front.

Some of your rubbing might be the fenderwells, too. I have heard the 81- up fenderwell is smaller than the 73-80 ones.

Re: 5/5 drop rubbing issues

275-60 is way tooo big a tire to run on the front, lowered. 245-60 is perfect, the picture shows a 275-50 on a 15x9 rim with 4" BS with the front lowered 4", people that have rims with a 5-5.5" BS have too deep a BS which will rub the control arms in tight turns, never had any issues with mine, the pic shows a 275-50 tire which has since been replaced with a 245-60 tire, BFG quit making the 275-50's so this is the next best size

These are the 245-60's on the same 15x9 rim.

In short, both. The fender lip will get bent and tweaked while the side wall of the tire gets gouged. I have to agree with the others and suggest a 245/60. It should give plenty of clearance and look real good.

Re: 5/5 drop rubbing issues

I have 5/5.
When I was running the 15" rallies, I had the 245/60's as noted and they did well. Agree that the 265's are too big.
