Fuel not going past pump

I just recently put in a small block in my 81 pickup and the fuel pump on it wasn't working. So I had a Holley mechanical fuel pump laying around and I installed it. Tried to start it and nothing. Fuel is getting to the pump but stops there. What could be the problem?

Re: Fuel not going past pump

If one of the valves is stuck open from sitting around, it won't pump.

Re: Fuel not going past pump

either the cams pump lobe is worn off or the push rod is too short or... time for a new pump.

Re: Fuel not going past pump

Could be the fuel pump pushrod is not working right. If you can find an electric pump try that and make sure you don't have any other issues your dealing with.
