shoddy bodywork rant

Well, I dropped off my cowl at a "so-called" reputable shop a couple months ago so I could have it shaved. I got it back today in bare metal to test-fit, didn't give him a dime, and noticed right away that it didn't look right. There looked to be a big curve along the windshield edge. But being as I hadn't seen it for a while and had nothing to match it up to I took it home to see how it would fit. The thing is warped so bad at the rear that I don't think it's fixable and I am PISSED. It is 1-1/2" from the windshield seal! I'm going back tomorrow and telling him I'm not paying him jack $h!t and he's gonna have to find me a new cowl. My buddy has a shop 4 bays down and turns out the owner of the shop I took it to had one of his lacky's do the work. That's just piss poor. I was really excited to get it back and bolt it up. Now I've got a piece of useless scrap metal. I'll post pics tomorrow after I get home from work.

Here is the one that I did and it turned out great but I have always said that you need to do them on the vehical. It still needed alot of knee work to get it to fit just right. Good luck.

Thanks Voodoo, I may just be. There might be a guy I can get one from locally I'm going to try first. The shipping costs would be pretty high to ship that thing. I'll let you know.

Kevin, I even showed him your thread and how you did it, but he did not do it on the truck as my truck is inoperable sitting in my garage. If you look at your pics, mine curled up right behind the wiper holes, all the way across from each one. (those were shaved also)

Try bending it back down more than it needs and then put it back on the truck for a test fit. It took me about an hour of "adjusting" to get this one to fit like it does after the welding was done on the truck. Don't give up on it yet. No don't take this the wronge way but you said you showed him my post so you were awair of the need to have it on the truck for good results but you did not get him the truck to do it on I know the truck was not movable but you still went thru with it. Give it a try by bending it very slightly but be carefull not to force it or it will kink. Good luck.
