Deer trashed my grill
Tonight on the way home, i accidentally hit a deer. it bent my outer grill a bit and destroyed my inner plastic grill. i was able to pull the outer grill out and it looks fine. where could i find an affordable factory grill replacement at?

Re: Deer trashed my grill
yea, as demented as it sounds, i did have a slight thought of taking the deer. it was a full grown central texas doe. about 20 min later a friend and i came back and the deer was gone. theres no way it survived. when i smashed it it flew like it was on an asphalt slip and slide (at about 30 mph). the grill actually looks like it can be pieced back together with some ingenuity and glue. after doing some homework, i saw some on chevyduty for 89 dollars.

Re: Deer trashed my grill
Theres a hefty fine here in Texas for picking one up off the highway even if you hit it. It will cost you $500 dollars, and you still don't get to keep it.
My Dad hit a deer a at 95mph in is new ford supercrew, and it did 6k in damages, these new trucks just aren't as tuff as the old iron. guess you could say Ford Tuff my ass

Re: Deer trashed my grill
In some areas of the Tx panhandle if you hit a deer you should call DPS and they will come out.The cool part is that even though you don't get to keep the deer they will have a Game Packer from the area who has donated their time and skill. The deer gets processed and is given to a needy organization.Usually this is an orphanage or old folks home. It's been years since I found out about this and things may have changed.
BTW A former co-worker and his wife live in an area where there are lots of deer. They have lived there for years and the best(worst) year for deer they hit 7 between them. She was gaining when the year ended.I actually saw a guy in a pick-up get hit by a deer on their road. The deer was running across the road and ran into the side of the truck.Left a big dent right behind the drivers door.

Re: Deer trashed my grill
Yep , Illegal to pick up. And most of the time the meat will be so bloodshot from the impact that they aren't much good to eat anyway.
I hit two in central Tx in two weeks. Both on friday nights while headed to the deer lease. I got lucky and had NO damage at all to the company truck I was driving. My bro-in-law had one run into his F250 and trash the dually fender this past season. He had just put a Ranch Hand on the front and the deer slipped right past it and hit the side of the truck. We talked to a ranch owner in west Tx one time who said he hit 8 in a 70 mile stretch of road in one night! They have a saying out there, "Center Up". But they all run the Ranch Hands too! Had one of the guys on our hunting lease hit a cow a few years back. It was black, and standing in the middle of a freshly patched asphalt road. He said it looked like another patch until he got close and then there was nothing to do but lock it down and hope. Hope turned into 5k for a new front end, and a scuffed up face from the airbag. Jay

Re: Deer trashed my grill
in missouri you call the highway patrol if you hit a deer and they'll tell you to take it off no need to tag it just less mess for them to clean up
