Gasket remover
I'm trying to remove the old paper gaskets under the access covers on the side of the 4spd xmission on my C20. I had some old NAPA spray gasket remover that worked pretty well, but they don't sell it anymore. I tried Permatex remover. It is better than nothing, but not much. Any recommendations?

I've used those "Scotchbrite Roloc Disks" with an angle die grinder, just use the medium or fine grit stuff, I think its gray or blue in color.you don't want to dwell in the same area too long, it will remove metal if you do.

I've had good results using a heat gun to soften the gasket and its adhesive and permit easier scraping but not in a confined space where plastic or rubber parts are nearby or especially where there are automotive oils or fuel of course..

I have a "gasket scraper" tool in my tool box (see above), but generally it only gets used to scrap grease from parts I am cleaning up. Not sharp enough for most gasket removal tasks.
