Re: 1967-72 Chevy/GMC Truck Factory Assembly Manual

You will find that the info is interesting. You will also need to know that the order of info seems to be from '67, through '72. Each year that saw a change in the product will result in a page, or pages, of pictoral info. It will show the end item, and will point out fasteners, assembly materials, etc. Don't buy the book and expect to find a set of instructions on how to put your truck together. The info is there, but your skills in using your eyes and some intuitive sense in how things go together, is the way to use the book. Remember the phrase, "A picture is worth a thousand words"? These pictures are drawings from engineer's.

Get the book, just don't count on it being a book with words to read, as much as pictures that you will find yourself studying and then...voila!! "That's how/where it goes!"

Re: 1967-72 Chevy/GMC Truck Factory Assembly Manual

I try to collect as many manuals on these trucks as I can find.So here's what I have found in order of how useful I find them.Remember some of these are swap meet finds so are not available new.I found most at the Charlotte Auto Fair.I will try to list approximate price I gave for each though I bought some several years ago I have not noticed the pricing being much different now if I see one I already have. Some vendors are asking $5.00-10.00 higher or more but most are not offended by a reasonable offer though they may not part with the book for that. Also be careful about the Factory assembly manual, some that I have seen(including the one I bought and did not check) have bad print so they are not clear pictueres.
the list
1.1968 Chevrolet Chassis service manual $20.00-25.00(I saw one for $35.00 but did not need it so I didn't haggle)
2.1968 Chevrolet Chassis overhaul manual $20.00-25.00
3.Haynes Manual Chevrolet full size 67-87 $19.95(I think new)
4.Factory Assembly manual($30.00?)
5.Chevrolet Pickup Parts interchange manual 1967-1978($19.95 new)
6.Chevy truck ID numbers 1946-1972 ($19.95)
7.Chassis and Body Parts Catalog Chevrolet 1046-72 1/2 thru 1 ton trucks series 10-20-30 ($40.00 Mostly because I had not ever seen one and I thought it would be useful)

I will be watching for a wiring manual now that I know there is a specific one....

Most of the Chevrolet factory ones are year specific but I have not found much difference in them other than the obvious brake and such changes.

The last three do not help much with assembly but have useful info.I also have quite a few Motorbooks publications on Chevrolet trucks and engines. And a Chevrolet Pickup Red Book 1946-1972. Each can be useful in it's field though the Red Book does have some discrepancies in it as some on the BB have pointed out.I also use the LMC Catalog for better visuals of some things. As I said luck was with me in finding some of these.
I hope this helps shed some light on some of the manuals you may want to look into.If I find one I will probably buy a Chiltons,I just have not run across one yet.

What's the difference between the Chassis Service manual and the Chassis Overhaul manual?

It "seems" like the overhaul manual goes into more depth.I am saying that from memory since i haven't looked at them in a while.
