The wheels I'm using are Superperformance Shelby Daytona Coupe wheels and the backspacing is net after the pin drive adapters: |

What year model truck? I am going with the same size tire however the rear end on my 70 is a bit narrower. Travis suggested a 4.25 bs on my incoming Vintecs

Assuming from your forum name - your truck is a 1970 model?
The reason I ask is there are two different axles in these trucks. In 1967 up through the end of 1969 and SOME 1970 model trucks (early production) the trucks had a 55.5" rear end housing in them. When I say 55.5" I am measuring from the inside of one backing plate to the other. This will just keep you from having to take the wheels off, you can lay under the truck and have a buddy / wife hold one end. In 1970, they started changing them over to a longer rear housing. Using this same measurement the longer housing is 57". You really need to know which housing you have. Crawdad's truck is a 71-72 (can't tell.. 71 I think) so I am 85% sure the rear end housing is 57" wide. In his example, the 5.5" BS will work, and it's sweet as hell. This is one of my favorite trucks on the forum. What if you have the 55.5" housing? That wheel would not sit the same. It would be tucked under the truck another .75" either side. IF you happen to find you have the more narrow axle (more desirable really) you can run a 5" BS on your wheels. This makes the wheel look wider (Some manufacturers will just use a thicker wheel flange and the wheel will actually look the same though) Same size tire will be fine.. 5" on a narrow (55.5") housing, 5.5" on the later / wider (57") housing. The 5" BS wheel will offset this difference for you. While not the end of the world if it's 1/2 off but 5.5" on a narrow housing truck would sit pretty far under the wheel well and I'm thinking would probably rub the inner bedsides. (never tried it personally) With a 70 model truck it's a roll of the dice. My 70 GMC has the longer housing but I have seen 70 with the shortie. Just sayin, you might want to check.
