"sleeveing " a torque converter seal area
I know you can "sleeve" a crank,is there such a thing for a torque converter.
Mine is worn at the seal area and leaks. I know there are the 2 locating cutouts on the T/C the complicates things. Just wondering if anyone has done this?

Never heard of sleeving a torque convertor. Rebuilts are about 100.00 and a seal is about 20.00

perfectly good $300.00 Lock-up T/C.
I'd rather sleeve it if I can.

Re: "sleeveing " a torque converter seal area
Have you checked to see if they make another seal with the same demensions that has the lips offset to a different location? You may also be able to put a 1/16 or so shim under your seal before you drive it into the pump so the lips would ride on new ground.
Or depending on how much room you have you could shim the converter towards the tranny a little. Usually there is about 3/16 of an inch, you could put a washer in there and still have enough room. Last edited by racin69z; 09-04-2008 at 07:03 PM. |

Here's a better idea, this is where I get ours for the parts store I work for.http://www.daccoinc.com/ They are not really that high on prices and we have never had a single problem with any of them!!!!
