New here 72 GMC C2500

Hello! We are new here and new to these trucks.
The wifey and I just picked up a 72 GMC C2500, we purchased it as a weekend driver/fishing truck. She runs strong but needs some rust repair. We were wondering if there are any common problem areas with these trucks? We are also looking into the 5 lug swap, headers, and some other upgrades. I know nothing about these trucks so any tips/advice/info and where to buy parts would be greatly appreciated. We are going to address the rust first and go from there.

Here are some pictures of her currently.

This is my other baby.

Yeah no idea, the only switch I have used was for the pump between the tanks. There are switches labeled Aux and BSR. It also has a kill switch. The "SR" tach wasn't from the previous owner seems something that would have been added in the 70's-80's. The sub will stay until we fix the exhaust... too loud.

Hi and welcome to the forum! Great looking project. Do as others have mentioned as far as looking for problem areas. The areas that I will mention are usually pretty obvious, but check the following areas for rust:

rockers
cab supports (front of rockers)
along the top of the firewall
inner kick panels
floor boards near rockers and kick panels
rear cab corners
inner cab roof along top of windshield area

Re: New here 72 GMC C2500

Thank you all for the friendly invite. Yes, definitely have the rust on the rocker panels, already bought replacements panels. I am sure the search feature will be my best friend here.
