Help my Struggling '67, Lookin' For Gaskets

Hello,

My '67 is at my buddies' shop after having developed some severe oil and transmission leaks as well as needing motor mounts. We solved the motor mount issue(made our own up as the 305 v6 ones aren't made..invaluable help from forum members here set me on the right path

I think my tranmission is a th400 it says hydromatic I know it was swapped in in place of a 3 speed manual...any recommendations where could I get a pan and rear seal gasket (preferably shipped next day...) for this transmission? Would this be something an Autozone/Advance Auto would even have available?

Also...the stud holding the right front shock on(the stud that bolts through the frame) broke and fell out on the road and I wasn't able to recover it. Anyone know where I could get a new one of these at?

I really appreciate everyone's help on here.

I would imagine all of that stuff should be available from most parts stores. TH400 and 350 stuff should be very commonplace.

My new shocks came with the mount studs...but they were new old stock, they probably don't do that anymore. However I'd think they should be available. I know earlyclassic.com has them for sure, but of course you get to pay shipping.

Re: Help my Struggling '67, Lookin' For Gaskets

Thanks for the lead on the shock mount, I found it on Early classic and am going to call and order it next day air tomorrow.

It's exhausting asking for specific parts from the parts monkeys at Advance Auto..unless they can look it up on their computer via car make and model(and this transmission was not the one that came w/ the truck) they seem useless in finding the parts..will give it a go tommorow at the 1 real auto parts store I know of. Thanks!

I just come up with a vehicle that won`t fry their brains that I know the component came in.I feel sorry for them and it`s an attempt to help them through their ignorance.

If it is a TH400, then it was avalible in the truck when new.

You sick of the parts guy questioning you on the 305 V 6 thing? You can try telling them it's a '66. There computers will probably recognise that.

Finding parts is a Bch because they hire whoever can look up stuff in the computer files.I was in a local parts store the other day and the manager was trying to explain to a new kid that he needed to learn to use the book to find older parts and in case of computer failure. So I helped out by asking the kid for a new ignition module for my 68 6cyl 250.

Re: Help my Struggling '67, Lookin' For Gaskets

I just read your thread and I feel the need to inform you of something. You said your right hand shock stud broke off. Is the hole in the frame gouged out? If it is you will have nothing but trouble with it in the future no matter how tight you get it. You have to either weld in the hole in the frame and redrill it or weld a new shock stud to the frame. I went through this for about five years buying new shock studs and finally fixed the problem by welding a new stud to the frame. 10 years later, still no problems. Just my .02.

Go to Auto Zone and tell them you need a TF206 trans filter kit. I work at one of the stores here in Amarillo, so not all of us all completely stupid on parts.
