My 67 Build Thread

Ok so here goes i know a lot of these pics are on my intro post but i figure id compile a complete build thread.
Here is the info and a few photos.

What i wanted to do with this particular project was pretty straight forward
I wanted a truck to progressively work on and update as time/budget permitted. However i thought i would go with a backwards approach to this
(get all parts then clean it up)
What i started with was a very clean 1 owner 67 that was driven semi regularly to haul leaves, trash ect.
I purchased the truck very early this year. I drove it around for a couple of weeks stock then began to tear it apart.

So far i have Modified the following from stock

Engine:
Basically a 468 CI LS7
Brodix Race Rite CNC ported Heads.
Comp 297TH Cam
Edelbrock RPM AIR Gap
Old BG Carb I had Laying Around.
Hooker Super comp 2” Headers (good for now, but not so good for ground clearance)

Transmission:
Richmond 6 Speed that my dad took on trade so he donated it.

Rear:
Stock 3.73 with Eaton Posi
Dutchman 5 Lug Axles

Suspension:
Complete Ridetech Strong Arms Kit
this thing is beautiful and a breeze to install.
Early Classic Drop Spindles and Front 5 Lug Disc Kit also a very choice piece.
Ridetech Front Sway Bar
Splined Rear Sway Bar (still in the works)

Tires / Wheels:
The Wheels Are Made By Esajian Wheel Basically a Billet Specialties Apex G
18x8with 4.5 bs in front and 18x10 with 5.5 bs in rear.
I did have to make a small spacer for the rear about .3125" thick per side 5/8" total
Tires are Nitto 555's 295/45/18 and 255/45/18

Other Stuff:
18 Gallon Rick’s Stainless Tank In-tank Electric Pump
Stock Seat Covered in a Nice Thick Black Leather with Red Stitching.

I am going to drive for a wile in its current condition work out all the bugs, and be working on another frame that I will clean up paint and swap all suspension over.
Lastly I will paint the truck but not for a wile…

Very Big Thanks To Everyone who Assisted me with this.
Bret and Tony at Ridetech
Stan at ECE
Rick's Hot Rod Shop.

Re: My 67 Build Thread

One issue i came across was the shifter...
Since i am running the 6 speed it is longer. hence a Stock Hurst Handle will not work it hit the seat just a tad when pushed into 2-4-6-or Reverse it would mash into the seat about 1"
I made a shifter handle that now contours the stock seat about .5" all the way around when in a back Position. In this pic it is in 1st so there is not a huge amount of throw commonly found with truck shifters, and it sits at a nice height it feels just right. The Holes were just something that came up with you really have to see it in person to appreciate it.

One other thing i came across was the factory z bar-
I had to shorten it by 3/8" to get it to fit. ill post more pics of that when the site allows me to.
Thanks!

this is one of those once in a LONGGGGGGGG while truck's that you see , very very few like this , I'd say you don't even realize how valuable that truck was in the first pic's , I am drooling all over my keyboard as I am sure lot's of other's are too ,it would be amazing to own such a piece but being in one of the auto rust state's I never see them like that , I'd say that a truck like that one did not exist here in southrust Virginia by 1970 ,
THAT IS THE COOLEST NICEST 67 FIND I HAVE SEEN ON HERE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wicked truck, the wheels and shifter look real good. Do you have any side shots with the new wheels on?

Re: My 67 Build Thread

Hey Guys well i am getting ready to get back on the project its been a wile since i have done anything with it since work really picked up which is a great thing.
I moved the truck into my shop from my dads because its smaller warmer and better lit.

There is a couple of things i need to do before i fire it and button it up.
Finish plumbing brakes
Make a Shroud and mount fans.
Make a 1" Spacer for the front Bump Stops because my headers will hit if not.

Re: My 67 Build Thread

as promised are some pics of the bell crank (z-bar) modifications.
the stock one was about .375" too wide so what i did was cut the existing arms off narrow it, and extend the bore accordingly. i made new arms it worked perfectly. they are .375" thick and at the narrowest point are also .375" thick in the center of the oval. i was a little worried that they would not hold up but i tried crushing it in a 70 ton press brake it took all it had to bend it in a longitudinal direction. imo it had sufficient strength. i used a 3/8" yoke to connect it and made an engagement rod to actuate the clutch fork. i hardened the tip to hold up.
