BBC Engine mounts
Question. Putting big block in my 68 and wondering what you guys have used for aftermarket mounts as the factory ones are far too rich for my budget. Considering the weld ins from scotts hot rods but i also see CPP has some bolt ins. Would like this engine to fit nicely w/ proper firewall clearance and no B.S. what do you guys reccomend? Thanks

Re: BBC Engine mounts
I agree 100%...should be easy to score in a salvage yard. I used them in a 69 truck, after drilling a few holes they bolt right in, plus they allow you to use headers from the 73-87 trucks which are easier and cheaper to find!

Re: BBC Engine mounts
73+ again.
they are dirt cheap, way stronger, easier to work with, and a easy swap. i am swaping in a set as we speak. second truck to do it on. idk why people sell or even buy the 67-72 mounts for so much, they are crap to start with. i sold a pair to a guy for $30 shipped, he turns around and post them for $150!!!!!! |

Re: BBC Engine mounts
I saw this post earlier but didn't respond because I can't remember where I bought these mounts. I remember paying $119. They were advertised specifically to the 67-72 trucks.

Re: BBC Engine mounts
check out the info in my thread about the same issue, http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=378361
Appearently the engine stands for BB chevys are still availible from GM. Bout the same price as getting the CPP parts. Tx Firefighter did a faq on using the cheaper mounts with the BB towers.

Re: BBC Engine mounts
here is a board vendor that is offering his mounts for 40% off,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, think i just found my mounts $90 and has a bushing instead of a big saggy rubber cushion.

Re: BBC Engine mounts
Hey FLAT 68 I used the mounts that AusTx68 has in his thread, that bolt in to the existing holes and they worked great. I have a BB and a 4 core radiator so I actually moved the engine back an 1' toward the firewall, for better weight transfer and to achieve enough clearance for my electric fan as I used a long water pump. The only draw back is that I had to use short valve covers. Think I got my mounts from POL (PerformanceOnline.com) Hope this helps.
