ok - next question later model column in a 72

I was wondering why people dont use a 73 - 91 column in their trucks - is it because of the lock being in the column or are there other reasons.

I would like to set my truck with a later model column. the reason is I can adapt a cruse control unit and intermittent wipers to the column controls I get tilt. plus I get the shifters locked when the keys out - also with the high beam light on the column I can use the old high beam switch on the floor to be a lock out for the starter.

big wiring headache & you have to mod the mounting under the dash to accept that type of column.

Because its a major pain !!!

I put one in my 67 & it was a pain, then when I got it in is was as solidly mounted as the correct column... just a bad idea IMO
