What to see in Los Angeles

I am in L.A. and was wondering if there was a shop, junkyard, person, anything of interest to see or do while I am here. I could use ideas on airbag suspensions and upholstery, but really anything concerning our trucks would be fun.

Any suggestions????

Re: What to see in Los Angeles

I don't really know anything that's related to our trucks, but the petersen automotive museum is pretty awesome.

Here's a cool link to events in Socal: http://www.socalcarculture.com/events.html
There's some scrapyards out in Sun Valley that sometimes have these trucks.

Re: What to see in Los Angeles

You could drive a couple hours north to Fresno and go to Early Classic enterprises. There are also tons of shops down in Orange County. MagnaFlow is down there. Also, in Burbank, you have Guldstrand Engineering. Although they focus on old Corvette/Camaro suspension, they are very knowledgable in all aspects of suspension and can probably give you some great ideas.

Honestly, screw the truck. You're in LA. It's going to be like 90 degrees! Go hang out at the beach! It's the one thing this crap hole of a city has going for it!

tons of shops in OC? who, what, where??? This is what I am looking for, but need a recommendation.

We already have plans for beach, pool, Disney, and a week in Mexico on a missions trip with 50 folks from our church, I am just looking to fill up my Friday.

Re: What to see in Los Angeles

Not sure where exactly you are, but Bob's Big Boy in Toluca Lake (border of Burbank) is a huge cruise night every Friday, starting mid-afternoon.

Saturday mornings are getting to be the hot time for cruising as well. These guys (and gals) are die hards... They're out at 5:00 in the morning! The couple that I know of are:

1) Montrose: Hwy 2 and 210: From about 6:30 - 9:00 AM
2) Huntington Beach: Donut Derelicts: On Magnolia I believe. Runs from about 5:00 - 9:00 A.M.

Enjoy your vacation! Sounds like a lot of fun!

Classic Industries in Costa Mesa, Truck and Car Shop in Anaheim and Brothers in Corona. You should also check out Venice Beach, you’ll see some crazy **** there. Magic Mountian about 2hrs north of you as well.

Re: What to see in Los Angeles

Hey, There's always Chip Foose's shop in Huntington Beach and Boyd's shop in Orange County. Foose's visiting hours are during lunch the last time I was there and if he is there he will visit with you. Good time and unforgetable. Get on the internet and just start looking up names and addresses. Plenty to do there concerning the truck scene.

OK I'm back, man was today fun! You guys in southern California are sooooo lucky. Everywhere I turned there was a shop or place to see or cool car just driving down the road. I'll post pictures later of my adventures.

Re: What to see in Los Angeles

First stop of the day was Classic Industries. Huge catalog was free, but the showroom was pretty weak. Redonkulous sized 08 Silverado in the parking lot.
Next stop was Foose to see if he was there today, unfortunately he was on a plane to the start of the Hot Rod Power Tour. I snapped some pics through the fence, but didn't want to wait til noon visitors hour.

Re: What to see in Los Angeles

Next was Truck Shop, by far the best place I saw today. They had cab corners that actually are the right shape!!! I bought 2.
Brothers was next on the list- very weak, same old crummy repro stuff.
Last was West Coast Customs, famous for pimp my ride, full on custom shop, very fine work!

WOW...I can't believe they let you take pics inside the truck shop. There are signs all over the place stating "no photography allowed" There show room rocks....they ALWAYS have parts in stock.
