Pertronics Distributor wiring

I am using a Pertronics distributor and their flamethrower coil. This setup doesn't have points but still uses an external coil (unlike HEI). The instructions say not to use a resistor wire to the coil. DO I simply do the same mod as the HEI installation discussed here?

Secondly, Do I keep the yellow wire that is connected to the starter (the one that is removed for the HEI install)?

I frequently try to wire things myself which often seems to let the magic smoke out of the wires. Then nothing works right. Thanks for any help. Frank

Bypass the resistor wire to the coil and don't use the yellow wire going to the starter. It was used to send 12 volts to the points during startup

Re: Pertronics Distributor wiring

Here's the wiring diagram for the pertronix ignition with the stock coil and the flamethrower ignitor coil. The ballast resistor is used here for the older vehicles but the newer ones use the resistance wire that comes from the firewall block. Just bypass the wire by using a wire from the ignition unfused terminal on the fuse panel. Yeah you won't need the yellow wire anymore.
