1966 chevy truck spotlight install.

So....Intro...Installed a spotlight on my truck. I took as many photos as I could, so....Here goes....

First step. Drill the two holes to hold that bracket in place...This requires an 1/8 inch drill bit. The bracket will only fit right in one spot...so perrty much just set the bracket on the piller and move it around until it sets in place....then..make the marks for your two mounting holes and then drill them.....

Re: 1966 chevy truck spotlight install.

Next...mount your bracket firmly with the screws and install the pilot bushing( Picture 2..what my finger is touching)...and carefully with a 1/2 inch drill bit drill the hole ALL the way though...DON'T take the bracket off the drill the interior whole! The pilot bushing and bracket act as a guide. Install the gasket and bracket and your results are so! Picture 1. Picture 3 shows the drill.

Nice work! I always thought you needed a fixture to drill the hole for a spot? No interference with the hood or door? Does the spotlight work? Can you point it any direction you need?

Great job & write up TJ! Looks really good all mounted up, now you need to do one on a '60-'63 cab so I can see how to install one on my rig

That is a pretty good price , Few years back I was buying the unity lights and brackets for big trucks and was over 250.00 each

Re: 1966 chevy truck spotlight install.

Ok...so over a month and I still haven't hooked up the electrical on the light...mainly cause there is no place on the harness board to hook it up...it has the option, but no hook up....but I did test the light and it works. Happy knowing that for now.

I don't know if the fuse panels changed by 1966, but here's the 1960 instructions on how to connect wiring from the Accessory Installation Manual:
