Worn out old upholstery
OK, here it is, doesn't this seat look atrocious? I was thinking about something similar in color. Should I order seat covers and hog ring pliers and just go for it, or is there stuff I should know? Is there an option for vinyl and cloth, where the driver and passenger area are in cloth and perhaps a little cooler?

Re: Worn out old upholstery
I didnt know anything about doing it either. But it was real easy. Hog rings and pliers, the new cover and a little foam to rebuild the seat was all i needed. And a little spray adhesive for the new foam. Turned out really good and saved myself some money. Mine was the torn up original 72 seat cover before i replaced it

Re: Worn out old upholstery
Thanks Tom. Look there, you have the cloth and vinyl combination I was thinking about. That is really nice looking. Does that style have a name? Did you order it from somebody on this forum or over the Internet?

Re: Worn out old upholstery
That's from truckseats here on the board. He sells good covers. That style is the factory houndstooth style.

Re: Worn out old upholstery
Bringing this back up to the top. How many forum members here sell houndstooth saddle bench seat covers, or is there a saddle Highlander style that somebody offers? Something in cloth with some sort of color pattern and looks good with saddle interior, that I can put on with hog ring pliers? Looking for suggestions to go with saddle, and I want to buy.

Re: Worn out old upholstery
I did a Pair of buckets turned out Good. Do it on a warm day with Sun , let cover warm up to soften and it will be easier to work with. Not hard to get good results.

Re: Worn out old upholstery
That looks great, did you save the back of the original seat? maybe you could cut and stretched pieces over luan plywood to make door panels.

Re: Worn out old upholstery
The cover was custom made by Justin Bell of Bell's Auto Trim in Plano, and he put it on for me, too. He's working on the door panels for me in the same material.
