Helping out GMC Junkie
If you haven't read this already, GMC Junkie (Jodie for those who know her) is looking at some tough times. She was looking at selling her beloved Suburban, which none of us what to see happen...and in all reality, she didn't want to let it go either.
It took some coaxing, but we got her to accept our help, and now it looks as if she can keep her rig. Many of us are donating tools and other items for the cause. I'm not sure if she wants to give her addy out to everyone on here...or maybe some one can channel it all to her, that hasn't been worked out yet. However, to get the ball rolling, here is what I gathered to send to her. There's a few more items i have at the shop that I can toss in here too, but for the best part, this is everything I can give to her. |

Lets try to list what we have on this thread so she doesn't end up with 35 9/16 inch wrenches and no 3/8 inch wrench.
Most of the tools I have in this box are mis matched better off in the trunk as an emergency kit type tools. And if some one else does have better items, then she can use these as so. However, here's what I have ready to be shipped; top of box 3/8 inch drive sockets, both short and deep from 3/8 inch up to 13/16. 2 spark plug sockets 1/4 inch drive sockets short 5/32 to 1/2 inch, and deep 5/16 to 1/2 inch. (couple missing, think I have them at work) Feeler guage couple 3/8 inline fuel filters I've had for 5 years layin around. windshield service reminder stickers www.67-72chevytrucks.com magnet in the lid. sharpie marker. Tape measure (not pictured) Drawer #1 Butt load of itty bitty wrenches. 5/16 - one inch wrenches. Some craftsman, some crappy no names, all servicable. Drawer #2 a few screw drivers...not many though a few Torx bit screwdrivers electrical crimp on kit with some vac line caps and light bulbs thrown in. I have some wire strippers and crimper tool at work I can toss in there too. Drawer #3 assorted zip ties 2 allen wrench sets, metric and standard...couple wrenches missing 6 inch and 12 inch adjustable wrenches (12 inch not shown) pair of dikes small channel lock pliers Drawer #4 1/4 in drive rachet & a few extentions and a universal propain bottle torch head (ignition button broke...gotta use a bick) utility knife complete with rusty blade small box cutter knife 1/2 inch rachet with 10 inch and 5 inch extentions and universal (not shown) 1/2 inch sockets 1/2 inch to 15/16...3/4 missing...might have that one...may not 3/8 rachet, short 3/8 rachet, stubby (not pictured) 3/8 rachet, long handle, floppy adjustable head (not pictured) short breaker bar few assorted extentions and universal. I was going to dig some mis-matched wrenches out that I have stored away, but it looks like Andy already has me topped in that department. Nice work Andy! I will look and see if I can add anything though. And I do have her address if you need it.

I'm still unpacking my tools and stuff from my divorce, but I'm sure I can come up with something. Even duplicates can be used as trade goods.

Actually - I'm totally willing to help and shipping is cheap.
Please PM me with a list of things that you think would be reasonable to donate. I know there are a truckload of name-brand tools (and sets of tools) that can be purchased and shipped for under $50. I'm part of some Craftsman club at Sears and get 10-15% off of everything on given days, so ... I feel like I'm in a place to help. I've been similarly in positions like hers my whole life, so ... I can relate and would like to help.

I know a sander would come in handy for her when she tackles the barn doors on the back of the Burb, but I'm guessing she does not have an air compressor.
Another thing she could definately use is a digital camera if anyone has one they're not using any more. That would be huge for her, then she could take pics of those barn doors in order to get some coaching on what to do to fix them. And the bonus for all of us would be that she could post pics of herself and her Burb, LOL!

Another option may be gift cards (like sears) where she can buy some of the tools she needs w/o having to pay a ton of shipping.

I can chip in an electric orbital. If someone can PM me a good addy to mail it to I will get it out soon.
(Maybe one of you guys that knows her can relay? I sure understand that a woman wouldn't want to advertize an addy on the inet in any way!)

Hi, I'm new here, but I wouldn't mind helping out! Where I work, I have fairly easy access to a variety of handtools such as dikes, needle nose pliers, impact sockets, etc. They may be used, but they'll work just fine. Let me know if I can be of assistance.

floor jack and stands are on their way......... remember Jodie to be safe and don't be under the dang thing unless you are using the jack stands along with the jack.

There's been a lot of stuff suggested. Has anyone made a list to make sure she won't end up with 8 pairs of channel locks, 4 sets of ΒΌ" drive metric sockets, 10 different kinds of needlenose pliers, etc? I still have no idea what I can contribute.
