Anyone else getting this error when you try and use the search function?

Anyone want to do that seach and then post the link to it?????

locking rear end

Trying to get a pic of what the locking rear end from 1970 would look like. Spid label says locking rear end for a option, but it just doesn't look right.

I get that alot too. When it happens I usually just log out for a while and it usually works later when I check back in.

I, too, occasionally get that. I usually just wait and it resolves itself.

The stock rear for a 70 Blazer is a Chevrolet 3500 AKA 12 bolt. There is no way to identify a posi rear end by a glance as it is the same housing. It may have a tag on a diff. cover bolt. The rear end should have a build number that includes a ratio/application code. If you can find this we can try to look it up. Often it is just easier to pull the cover and inspect the diff.. Most never get the fluid changed often enough.

Re: Error when using search

That is a typical Eaton style posi that would have been factory installed. The preload springs are the giveaway. How about a picture of your diff. and the axle code if you can find it?

Re: Error when using search

No spings on mine, i figured that...
The spid label says positraction, so someone must have changed out the whole axle or just the internals.

Anyone know how many teeth would be on a 3.73 ring gear?? spid label doesn't say 3.73 .. hopefully they at least went to a good ratio. The front diff internals look like new, the inside spool inside that holds the ring gear is painted black..

I will post pics shortly or mine..

Thanks guys

Re: Error when using search

Just count the teeth and divide. The ring gear might have the tooth counts stamped into it.

Re: Error when using search

43:13 so 3.08 i guess
Im suprised tgey use this on a 4x4 blazer.
This might be slow off the line w 33x12 tires.
Hopefully it will help gas mileage.

Re: Error when using search

3.07 gears were standard with a 350 as were E78/15B tires.

Re: Error when using search

Would 3.07 gears be better than 3.73 gears for gas mileage ?

Re: Error when using search

33s should just about kill any chance of mileage you have with 3.07 gears as they make the effective ratio about 2.56. Figure that the stock tires were 26.6" in diameter and your 33s are about 32". So basically you have a tire 5.4" taller and nearly twice as wide plus it is heavier. The only time those gears are helping you are downhill or parked on a grade. You can use a tire gear calculator if you want but the difference is about the same as changing to 3.73 gears. This would give you about the same highway RPM with the 33s as the factory setup was with the E78/15 tires. Now this does not even take into account the extra mass of the wheels and tires. Rule of thumb used to be go to the next lower step after correcting for RPM. So you might actually be happier with 4.11s but 3.73s should give about the best possible mileage IF YOU DO YOUR PART!
