Question 72 door panels

I have seen two different styles of door panels on the 72s. Obviously they are both plastic. One has a "flower" type pattern (like the picture I attached) at the top, the other doensn't have it. I would like to buy some replacement panels withought this "flower" pattern. Where do can I get some, and what are the details as to why there are different patterns. BTW I currently have the plain style on my K5 but they are in pretty poor shape. Thanks!

Re: 72 door panels

They actually made another version with the woodgrain inserts too. I've only seen the plain style as repops.

Re: 72 door panels

Maybe the plain panel is tobe used with the wood pattern insert, to cover that area up....

It has horizontal lines on it, I don't think it is the version with the insert. I will take a picture of the old ones that I have and post them.

Re: 72 door panels

Mine do not have the scroll pattern. So I would think the pattern was in the cst trucks and matched the seats. While the standard trucks did not have it.

Re: 72 door panels

The woodgrain is part of the CST package, and it was a sticker over metal. Does anyone make a repo of those?

Re: 72 door panels

OK, I happened to see these pics in the for sale section. I hope WORNBRAKES doesn't mind me using his pics for reference. These are the two styles that I am talking about. Where can I find a good reproduction (or NOS) set of the BLUE style. Once again, if anyone could shed some light on the differences that would be great also. Were they just two different options that were available or what? Did the scroll only come with a certain trim package? Somebody is bound to know the details

That's probably right, but my CST has the "standard" panels without the scroll. However, who knows what the PO did, they might not be original.

Re: 72 door panels

4 interior trim levels were available.

1. Chyenne Super had the woodgrain scroll combo
2. Chyenne had the woodgrain and scroll combe
3. Custom Deluxe had the scroll pattern on the door panel with the houndstooh/vynil combo seat
4. Standard no scrolls on the door panels only vynil seat.

That's good information. My K5 is a CST, but who know what has been changed over the years. I like the "standard" style that I currently have just due to simplicity. Now on to the next question...any idea where to get a new set? So far I can only find the scroll and wood-grain in the cataloges. Thanks!

Re: 72 door panels

I just sold a beautiful pair of the non-scroll 72 door panels for $40. at the louisville swap meet. They came on the base model blazer and truck.
