Gap in heater core inlet/outlets.

I have a non-A/C truck.
There is a gap about 1/4 inch on both the inlet and outlets between the tubes and the heater box.
Has anyone filled this gap to "dress things up" under the hood?
It looks like there should be a filler off putty there, and it would look a lot "cleaner" if there was.
I'm think about using a black plumber's caulk. It's semi permanent, and sets up with a flat finish.
Did these trucks come from the factory with this gap? Or was there some sort of gasket/filler putty there?

I don't know if they came from the factory with the gaps sealed or not but I have seen quite a few trucks with caulk around the tubes. I would say just finish it off how ever you like it.....

Yeah, me too. I just wondered about it.
One thing I love about these trucks, is that no two are exactly alike.
There were no "cookie cutter" option packages that couldn't be altered (to a point) by either factory order or dealer install, so it's an adventure for me whenever I see one in a salvage yard or even a show.
