My Dad

Well I have been doing some digging and found a couple of pictures I hope you all like.
A little background first.
My Dad worked as the warranty rep for a while then went to the GM instructor at the Eastway BLVD. GM school in Charlotte. He then moved into the Fleet sales of trucks where he retired. He had almost 32 years with them.
Here is a couple of pictures with a very special camper to most of us on here. The picture was took in June of 1969 at Evertt Chevorlet in Hickory NC. This is where most of his cars and trucks were serviced back then. We spent 4 weeks traveling in it after the promotional show at Evertt's. I slept in the front seat of it almost the whole time at night. The little scooter went with us also, it was given to my dad after the show for selling the most trucks at the show.

This next picture was taken in June of 1972 in our drive way in Charlotte on Rocky Falls RD. You can see the truck in the background. I found these this past week while spending sometime with them in Conover and when I saw these I had to have them. I remember that camper trip like it was yesterday.

Re: My Dad

That brings back some memories! I had a childhood friend whose father bought a camper special that was the same color. Good times.

Re: My Dad

that's awesome. funny the stuff you remember. my dad trades trucks every two years or so, and i can remember every single one of them from the time i was born. wish i had pictures of all of them. my parents weren't big picture takers.

Re: My Dad

My dad & mom were big picture taker's. I knew they had some of these pictures just took me awhile to search through them. I still haven't gotten done. My mom has 20 or 30 shoe boxes filled with pictures.
I love looking at the old family pictures. Next time I'm home I'll dig some more out I hope.

Memories jarred! My parents had a camper just like that, the top bunk above the cab was the coolest thing, lying there looking down at the traffic! Thanks for the pictures.

Re: My Dad

My mom & dad are in there 80's now and it's great to hear them talk about that stuff. It's amazing how much they both can remeber once you get them started. I remeber looking out of the top bunk and seeing the outer banks for the first time as we drove across the bridge.
We drove the Blue ridge parkway, up into Tenn. then across to the outer banks where we stayed for almost a week. Took the fairy to the lower part of the banks to come back home. That was some of the best times of my childhood.

Re: My Dad

Cherish them and TALK to them, while you still can. My dad died in Feb. In the months before that, he was getting more forgetful and having a more difficult time conversing without fussing. I'll leave it at that.

Nice pics. Oh, what kind of convertible is that? It looks like, from the small amount of picture that I see, like it could be a 65-68 Impala. I had a '67 Impala Convert, that was that same color, called Granada Gold. Had a '67 Firebird Sprint, same color, but Pontiac called it Signet Gold.

Nice info...thanks.

Re: My Dad

ChevLoRay,
That's a 1964 SS my dad built while at the training center in Charlotte. It had a gold outer with white interior Automatic in the floor. The classes he did they used the car to work on. 1972 I was 11 years old and I spent that summer as his helper and I cleaned up the shop after class each day. They installed a 350 turbo trans in it I know. They took the hydramatic out when dad did the building of the turbo 350.
The outside gold color was from Cadillac dealer in Charlotte.

Re: My Dad

There are more pictures just have to get time to drive up a spend some more time looking. Here is one of the SS. This is the impala SS, the girl sitting on it was my brother wife. The camaro was my mom's, Ned Jarrett (NASCAR) bought it from dad and he got another one. The car with my dad was him leaving Yazoo Miss. for Charlotte the first time.

Re: My Dad

Here are a couple of more I had of the camaro and my mom. First 2 are when we were camping the next 2 are in Conover NC at our house. The last 2 or when my brother bought it and he lived in Clearmont NC right out of Conover. From what I know the guy that bought it from my brother still has it.
