Another stupid repeat question

Can anyone tell me why I will have to change the motor mount towers to bolt a bigblock into my '84?

I was always told "a big block will bolt up anywhere a small block will".

Ive got a chance to buy a very resonable 454 for mine & need to know all the details of spare parts to be looking for. Thanks...corn

A big block WILL bolt up in place of a small block on our trucks...I have done it, and so has Chris. I am however experiencing clearance issues with my transmisson...and it could be related to the small block towers I am using with my bb...or possibly the fact i am now running a 700r4 in place of my old th350. I should know in the next month or so if my newly aquired bb towers make any difference.

Chris did install and run a bb on his small block towers for a while if my memory serves me correct...maybe he will chime in and give us his .02.

I have converted or help convert several trucks like this and I have never swapped engine stands. All have used the same ones from the SBC. Mine had a inline in it originally that was swapped for a SBC, and it was swapped out in ~1992 to a BBC, and has been a BBC the whole time it was running (8 years and plenty of abuse). I don't see any reason why you should have problems.
