I am planning on droping my 70 C-10 and I am converting the front drums to disc in the process any suggestions on the best deal for the conversion. Should I try a junk yard for a newer GM truck to strip parts from or just save for a new kit. I am going to need calipers rotors and a brake booster proportioning valve and most likley a new master cylinder. I don't have a ton of cash laying around either. I would like to convert the brakes and get the drop for around $500.00

ECE makes a disk brake conversion drop spindle. Not sure on the price but its listed on their site

Wow thats alot of money for the kit. Just under $1000.00 is a bit out of my price range at the moment. What year trucks with the front disc brakes will swap to my 70' so I can try a junk yard.

Its my understanding that the front xmember from a '73-'87 2wd GM truck will fit under our front ends with the addition of an xtra bolt hole or two. The cheapest I have found the drop coils is $95 a pair. I have seen a set of drop spindles on EvilBay for around $140 lately and im sure you can get new rotors and pads for under $125. Combine that with about $150 for a complete xmember from a junkyard and your closer to your budget than going with new. Dont forget to replace the ball joints and tie rods...and control arms shafts...and control arm bumpers...and...and...and it adds up doesnt it.

I just popped for an entire new disc front end, front and rear lowering setup with a front end rebuild kit and track bar and it was almost $1300...ouch. I cringed and told the boss (aka wife) the total and she said..."thats not bad"...i stood there shocked for a minute, then i ran back to the computer to order some MORE!!!
