bb motor swap

i own a 72 c10 that had a sb and am putting a bb in it. I've taken it and the weak single bolt through the middle motor mounts out along with the chairs (frame mounts). I have purchased a set (from junk yard) of 1970 c10 402 frame mounts.. they bolt right up to the cross member and frame.... but there's four bolt holes on there (just wait).
when i go and purchase the motor mounts from the parts store - they're pretty standard - the three bolts holes fit the motor then there's a large rubber pad and a hole on each side where the 5" bolt goes through running front to back once the motor is set in the truck... well what i can't find anywhere is the part that bolts to the frame mount and accepts the motor mount w. the 5" bolt. Anyone have any suggestions as to who has a schematic of this or who manufactures it now? as chevrolet has discontinued manufacture of the lower vintage assemblies. (btw - and no classic and the regular parts guys don't have or barely know what i'm even talking about) (and it's not a hybrid system like the 76 models w/ bb's that use the new mounts with the old plates)

I'd like to help, but for my BB installation I bought the BB towers and GM engine mounts. There is a 1/2" bolt that goes thru the tower into the GM engine mount. The way I did it was not cheap. The BB towers were $100 for the pair and the mounts were $200/pr and I understand they are considerably higher now. I think I know the configuration of what you are doing, but can't help with specifics. Sorry.

byrd, you able to get pics?
It sounds like you may have towers and mounts that are not of the same year.

I was in your exact situation about 1 year ago.
The motor mounts that bolt to your engine block are dealer items.
Even though they have been discontinued, you can still find them
at certain dealers.I bought mine at a Chevy dealer in Cerritos,CA
for $120.00 each.

hobby67stepside is 100% correct.
You won't use that 5" bolt.

I wish I could help, but when I did my BB swap I used the small block towers and mounts. I figure if they held up to the torque of a Diesel they'll handel the torque of a bild big block...

What is the difference between those and ones in 73 up big block truck mounts? Is it just a matter or originality. Withh the other ones bolt up to our crossmembers?

I just want to thank everyone for responding to my thread out here... You guys are awesome. The camaraderie and esprit de corps of the people that visit this site (new members and regulars) and that have been helping me is far above and beyond what any dealership would ever be or become. You guys are all like second family... If I can ever be of assistance to anyone mail me. I finally am informed and know what I need for my project. Thanks a million to every one.

As far as I know, the motor mounts for those 70 bb towers are around $60 each, and I didn't think they were available at regular old parts stores. That's the toss up between the two. The 68-71 towers are cheap, but the mounts are expensive. The 72 towers are expensive, but the mounts are cheap.
