Disc brake steering rack question
Does anyone know the approximate difference between the angle on a drum brake steering rack vs. a disc brake steering rack for the tie rod ends? If anyone has both, could they try and measure it with a protractor or any other means? I threw out a 72 disc brake rack not knowing they were any different than a 70 drum brake rack. I am just going to fabricate a replica or modify my '70.
Thanks |

Re: Disc brake steering rack question
If you're talking about the center link, they are dimensionally the same except for the taper holes for the tie rod ends. I don't know if they are a different taper or if they are reamed out bigger.
You can use inner tie rods for 70, an adapter type adjuster and outers for a 72. CPP sells these: |

Re: Disc brake steering rack question
I found it was cheaper just to replace both inner and outer tie rods rather than go with the sleeve adaptor. but then I swapped out my center link too. I didnt see any difference at all, but then I didnt think to look at the taper in the inner tie rod mount locations so I bet thats the difference.
